Malham Cove in the Yorkshire Dales 02 May 21.

A day for the hills.

Getting out of a concrete city and especially after over a year of being mainly locked away due to COVID has become even more important to me.

I am not a huge fan of hills, I have mainly been a flat road runner in over 30 years of competitive running, although I was introduced to hills when I started running marathons in 2011.

Not sure that I am a very good walker either as I get bored after a mile or so and want to start running. The good thing is that I slow down on hills though and get to see more of the scenery and can stop and talk to some people.

An excellent conversation about mental health.

What made it even better was that on my second lap, a couple who were laying on the grass at the side of the path spoke to me and the gentleman asked me something like “Why are you running this?”

I had an excellent conversation about my own management of severe and complicated mental illness and how it helps me and they said that their son who was 17 had anxiety.

When I am struggling, I like to record audio as it can help me when I struggle to write and so please have a listen to my episode.

When struggling I sometimes record audio.
